Bruce again:

A few changes to the line up for September's gig. The highly inventive young guitarist Barry Edwards replaces Jamie Smith and the excellent young tenor player Mark Hanslip joins Bruce Coates in the front-line. Mark regularly plays with Tony Marsh in London so we thought this was too good a chance to miss.

Wednesday September 10th 8-45pm £6/4 and 3 quid for students at the Station Pub in Kings Heath.

The rest of the season is now confirmed:

October 1st - Paul Dunmall, Bruce Coates, Jamie Smith, Mike Hurley, Trevor Lines and Mark Sanders

November 5th - Paul Dunmall, Gail Brand - trombone, Bruce Coates, Mike Hurley, Trevor Lines and Mark Sanders

December 3rd - Bruce Coates, Han-earl Park (guitar), Mike Hurley, Trevor Lines and Walt Shaw (home-made percussion and electronics)

Remember we're now on a Wednesday!

Frimp again, like we did last summer

FrImp enters its fourth year with an exciting line-up of new and old faces and a new venue and a new night of the week. After the demise of the Victoria we're very excited about our new home at the legendary Station pub in Kings Heath. Our first gig will be on Wednesday 10th September and then the first Wednesday of the month after that. First up comes we're presenting the incredible Tony Marsh stalwart of the British and French Jazz and Improvising scenes for the last 40 plus years. Tony's worked with everybody that counts from Don Weller to his trio with Evan Parker and John Edwards. Along Tony, will be MisterLee's versatile and virtuosic Jamie Smith on Guitar, the as ever superb and Birmingham's favourite bass player Trevor Lines, the wonderful young pianist Mike Hurley the brains behind Frimp's sister night Fizzle and who also plays just about kind of music you can think of from Gypsy Punk to Reggae and Frimp's organiser Bruce Coates on Saxophones.
We hope we're going kick off the new season with a bang. See you all there.
Start time - 8-45pm (doors will be open from 8pm) Prices £6/4 and just 3 quid for students.

Hi All,
Just a quick reminder that it's FrImp night tomorrow at the Victoria, John Bright Street. Guests include exciting young sax player Mark Hanslip's first appearance with us and the return of our old friend Miles Levin. It should be a blast!
